Research has shown that around 55 million people worldwide suffer from dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease. Recently, however, the actor Bruce Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, or FTD, a rare type of dementia that typically affects people ages 45 to 64. Aacording to Alzheimer's Research UK, FTD typically involves changes in personality, behavior, and language production. Some FTD patients, for example, may feel impulsive and impatient, while others struggle to find words and to express themselves. This kind of problems can be hard for families and care givers to deal with. What's worse, there is NO cure for FTD, and there are no effective treatments.

Currently, more than 6.2 million individuals in the U.S. live with some form of dementia. What if FTD cause not only Bruce Willis' but more patients' life issues? According to some studies, FTD reveals an uncomfortable truth to those who suffer from the disease- speech issues, emotional problems and changes in personality. What's worse, FTD can cause loss of motor skills, such as difficulty in walking, swallowing or muscle spasms. Unfortunately, these symptoms seem to get worse over time, which means FTD patients may fall easily while having walking disorder or they may lose their way and cannot deliver what they want to talk about smoothly.

Since no medications effectively cope with FTD, what can we do to avoid our beloved aging parents getting lost and reduce the risk of a fall?
